Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials

The Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials was established in 1983. Our membership extends across the plains, climbs over the Rocky Mountains, and reaches northward into Wyoming. We are a self supporting, non-profit organization made up of professionals responsible for the enforcement of Municipal, County, State, and Federal codes that enhance the beauty, health, safety, and welfare of our communities.
Wit and Wisdom: "A small green frog, On a big brown log; A black and yellow bee, In a little green tree; A red and yellow snake, By a blue-green lake, All sat and listened To red bird sing, "Wake up, everybody, It's spring! It's spring!" -unknown

Recent Event Recap
The December QT and Annual Business Meeting at Aurora: hosted by Aurora Code Enforcement Dept. We had a great turn-out, terrific training, and elected one new member to the Board of Directors in addtion to other changes in Board positions. Many members received some wonderful door prizes just in time for the holidays and we also "gave back to our communities" by participating in the 10th annual "Joy Drive".
The 2011 AACE National Conference held November 1-3, in Nashville, Tennessee. This year's conference was held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. What a great location and a good time for all. Colorado was well represented with 6 from Commerce City and 1 from Fountain. Save the date for next year's conference to be held Oct. 29 through Nov 2, 2012 in St. Charles, Missouri .
September QT at Ft. Collins: hosted by was co-hosted by Code Enforcement Departments of Ft. Collins and Larimer County. Over 90 members and guests were attendance. Highlights of the day's agenda included sessions on reacting effectively with personality disorders, a discussion of municipal vs county code enforcement diffrences, and dealing with "sovereign citizens". A special treat was comic relief by one of our own members, Caleb, who regularly performs professionally at comedy theatres.
Members also brought enough various animal food and health care items to overfill a table. These items were later donated to local animal shelters in need of assistance.
Finally, a number of great door prizes were awarded for member's submissions of "Best Excuses Heard On The Job". The grand prize awarded was a White Water Raft Trip for Two! A wonderful QT, many thanks to our hosts!
Notes
Colorado Illegal Waste Tire Cleanup Grant Program Abatement List Development & Outreach Initiative
The Colorado General Assembly passed legislation in 2010 (HB 10-1018) concerning waste tires that have been illegally dumped or abandoned. This legislation created a program designed to provide grants to counties and municipalities for expenditures related to the disposal, recycling, or reuse of the waste tires.
Due to the extensive field knowledge of their own jurisdictions by Code Enforcement Officers, the CDPHE is asking the assistance of CACEO members in providing much needed information on locations of illegally dumped, collected, or abandoned waste tire sites. The information received will be entered into an abatement list for cleanup prioritization. Click here for copy of Outreach Letter received by CACEO
For more information about the illegal waste tire cleanup grant program click on the following link: http://www.cdphe.state.co.us/oeis/wtprog/wastetire.html this also contains a link that will direct you to the Department’s Illegal Waste Tire Cleanup Program for Counties and Municipalities application which will be available on a year-round basis.
